DESIGN REVIEW APPLICATION #DR-07-06
FINDINGS OF FACT AND DECISION
Allison Estey, hereafter referred to as the applicant, is requesting design review approval
for a proposed sign at 100 Dorset Street. The subject property falls within the Dorset
Street/City Center Sign District.
The Development Review Board held a public meeting on Tuesday, September 4, 2007.
Allison Estey was present at the meeting.
Based on testimony provided at the above mentioned public meeting and the plans and
supporting materials contained in the document file for this application, the Development
Review Board finds, concludes, and decides the following:
FINDINGS OF FACT
1) The applicant is requesting design review approval for a proposed sign at 100
Dorset Street. The subject property falls within the Dorset Street/City Center Sign
District.
2) The applicant submitted color renderings of the signs.
3) The proposed sign is in keeping with the existing Master Sign permit for the
property. However, the original approval required that any proposed sign for the
tenant to replace the Blue Heron Gallery would require additional review by the
Design Review Committee (DRC). Based on this premise, the DRC reviewed the
application at a hearing on August 27, 2007. They unanimously recommended
approval by the Development Review Board with respect to the design
parameters. They wished to make it clear, however, that the sign presented
would not be acceptable in terms of size and that the sign must respect the
limitations of the South Burlington Sign Ordinance.
4) The applicant has proposed two similar but different designs. The DRC was
comfortable with design review approval of both proposals. Color copies were
available at the hearing.
DECISION
Motion by seconded by &,EA ��R � �� to
approve Design Review Application #DR-07-06 of Allison Estey, subject to the following
conditions:
All previous approvals and stipulations, which are not superseded by this
approval, shall remain in full effect.
2. This project shall be completed on the plans submitted by the applicant and on
file in the South Burlington Department of Planning and Zoning.
3. The applicant shall apply for a sign permit from the Code Officer. The proposed
sign must meet the dimensional requirements and limitations of the sign
ordinance.
