Dear Mr. Earley:
Be advised that the South Burlington Zoning Board of Adjustment
has denied your request for a zoning variance based on the
following findings:
1 - Insufficient hardship presented to justify this significant
compromise of a residential district.
2 - Business in this neighborhood would alter character of area
and likely adversely affect neighborhood.
3 - These is unsufficient off-street parking shown to accomodate
customers and residents.
The Board will issue formal findings at a later date.
Yours truly,
Richard Ward,
Zoning Administrative Officer

Re: Firearms and ammunition regulations
Date: July 6, 1979
Mr. Ward has asked me to find out the regulations regarding keeping
of firearms and ammunition in a home as a business.
Under state law ammunition is a class A material and must be stored
in a type 1 area. Also by state law you must be 140 feet away from
other homes and 60 feet from the highway.
The building must be bullet proof, weather, fire, and theft proof.
Because of a family in the house I feel it could be a hazard to life
safety. To handle the above material a person must also have a
liscence. Penalties for not conforming to law is $1000 fine, 5
years in prison or both.
If more information is needed please feel free to call me at
