HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Housing Trust Fund Committee - 11/12/2019 SOUTH BURLINGTON HOUSING TRUST FUND COMMITTEE November 12, 2019 MINUTES The Housing Trust Fund Committee convened at 5:05 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 in the Champlain Room at South Burlington City Hall. MEMBERS PRESENT: Joy Grossman, Larry Kupferman STAFF PRESENT: Kevin Dorn OTHERS: Amy Demetrowitz, Champlain Housing Trust There were no comments or questions from the public not related to the agenda. The Committee heard a request from Champlain Housing Trust for additional funding to support a the Garden Apartment project – 60 units of affordable housing at the corner of Market Street and Garden Street. The City had previously awarded $100,000 to the project which is nearing completion. Occupancy is expected to begin in December. Joy asked Kevin if he expected additional demands on the $50,000 allocated in the FY ’20 budget. Kevin said that he did not expect any more requests in the fiscal year. Amy asked if progress was being made on proposals to waive impact fees and permitting fees for affordable housing projects. Kevin said that those initiatives where being put forward by the Affordable Housing Committee but that none were in place at the time. Joy moved to recommend to the Council that $50,000 from the FY ’20 budget allocated to the Housing Trust Fund Committee be invested in the Champlain Housing Trust Garden Apartment project. Larry seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Kevin informed the Committee that the recommendation of the Committee to fund the Garden Apartment project at $50,000 would be on the City Council agenda for its meeting on December 2nd. Joy moved to adjourn. Larry seconded and the meeting was adjourned at 5:22 PM
