1. Thanks for the opportunity (Maggie)
a. Introduce task force members who are comprised of SoBu ci zens who were interested in being on the
task force : Ka e Lenox, Be y Milizia, Linda Chiasson, Barbara Sirvis, Elizabeth Walker-Benne , Catherine
Young, and staff support: Maggie Leugers, Jus n Rabidoux, Paul Connor
b. Task force process-(Ka e/Barb)?
i. Mee ng regularly for 2.5 months and an cipate will con nue
ii. The group created an original matrix for discussion
iii. Commi ee members piloted it on selected SoBu sites
iv. Other factors arose that warrant expanding/adding other criteria
2. Recommenda ons tonight (Be y/Barb)
a. Con nue to refine site selec on matrix, ID possible future sites
b. Review current policy and prac ces (na onally and locally)
c. Develop recommenda ons for addi on sites, policies and guidelines for ongoing management.
d. Support an ongoing body of ci zens (cross sec on of community), at least one expert, such as canine
behavior specialist, veterinarian, municipal animal control.

3. BTV proposal for a dog park (possible name “Gateway District” Dog Park) - (Be y/Linda)

c. Five-year commitment
d. Gives me for city to determine future for city dog parks
e. Using some of the research we provided
Jaycee Dog Park will be a separate City Council agenda item

g. Task Force voted for keeping it open (split 4-3)
i. Comments/ra onale of those who voted “yes” (walkability)
ii. Comments/ra onale of those who voted “no” (safety, nuisance noise)
h. For park to open (no cost to city)
i. Limit hours (dawn to dusk
ii. Limit # of dogs in enclosure
iii. Limit to small dogs only
iv. Deal with noise/barking levels?
i. For park to open with improvements (cost to city)
i. Increase park size (more fencing)
ii. Noise abatement on fencing
