HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Red Rocks Park Committee - 11/10/2014RED ROCKS COMMITTEE NOVEMBER 10, 2014 MEMBERS PRESENT: Erwin Cohen, Jed Lowry, Yiota Ahladas, Lisa Yankowski ALSO PRESNT: Todd Goodwin, Recreation & Parks Director, Sophie Mazowita Minutes of September 15th were amended as follows: There was debate concerning the tone & language of the MP. Some members backed the idea of reducing the number of questions asked within the MP, while using more forceful language for the MP’s recommendation. No changes to the MPs were adopted on this point. Membership-Joe, Jed and MJ will be leaving the committee. MP: There were 5 responses from members of the public. Comments were supportive. 2 requested dog/leash enforcement. 1 person commented on parking. Sophie updated the MP, compiling the public parking comment and the RRAC comments. 1 public comment had recommendations regarding the beach. Page 36: 3.9A-Propose add bullet: Impact to neighbors adjoining the park. Add 3.9.B-Propose adding: “Neighborhood” Both approved Noted: Eliminating parking from the within the park. Add: Visual aesthetic: The signage should be coordinated and consistent aesthetic that is in keeping with the natural environment of the park. Adopted Page 36: Long term goal Add “neighborhood” to “visual, ecological” Discussion of the 76’ cliff. Debate over making the trail an official trail. Propose: call to action follow-up. Option 1: Yiota request meeting with City Manager to voice support for the call of action. Yiota, Jed, Sophie, Kevin Dorn and the interim parks director. Option 2: Request the meeting after the City Council meeting. Todd-Wheeler’s MP document is near completion. Commonality with RR: parking, signage and dog issues. Underwood is also on the table. RRAC RRAC agreed to recommend the MP to City Council, and request they endorse the plan. Recommended changes to the cover letter. Limit it to 2 paragraphs. Yiota to send to Todd by Weds. Sophie to send final doc to Todd by Weds. Present to council on 17th Monday. Membership No one applied to RRAC. Yiota to ask Kevin Dorn to re-open application MP proposed plan is no longer on the city website. RRAC recommends that it be posted. 5. ADA report was reviewed. No comments 6. Break-ins in the parking lot. There was a meeting with SBPD sergeant. Jed and two others are sending sign proposals to SBPD to warn parking to take their valuables. 7. The trails were graded for a track meet. No one knows who did it. Yiota requested more notice about events in the park. Minutes accepted with addendum. Respectfully submitted,
