Meeting Date: May 6, 2014
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Healthy Living Market (Upstairs Conference Room), 222 Dorset St
Present: Rosanne Greco, Betty Goldberg, Sarah Dopp, Will Raap, Kindle Loomis, Sophie Quest
Topic: Discussion of the Committee on Committees Proposal from the City Council and staff.
Staff proposes to have less staff time and more volunteerism by dissolving all committees not part of
state statues and having 3 committees meeting quarterly, with 6 possible temporary Task Forces.
Discussion included rejecting the idea completely or trying to modify it in order to continue to have the
best opportunities for interested, hard working volunteers. Everyone has a somewhat different point of
view of what would work best. Sus/Ag will write up their comments to submit to the City Council before
the public hearing of June 16. (Attached is the Proposal. Please send any comments by Friday, May 9,
to Sophie Quest.)
Goldberg submitted a draft letter to landlords, inviting them to a meeting to discuss their land. It was
decided to wait until September to have this meeting or until the FBC was completely finished in regard
to the entire city.
Topic: Discussion of possible useful futures for Sus/Ag, including some kind of partnership with
Common Roots.
Sophie will soon send a list of our tasks for the Planning Commission, with a timeline.
Topic: Discussion of Underwood property and the possibilities of using the maintenance money from
the Open Space Fund to reseed the land this year, so that the soil can begin to recover from the GMO
corn of last year.
Sophie will speak with Tom Hubbard at his invitation. He informed Meaghan Emery that some money
should be available for this.
Respectfully submitted,
Sophie Quest
