Burlington, VT 05401 802-658-6486 February 1.4, 1986 Mr. Richard Ward City of South Burlington 575 Dorset Street . South Burlington, VT 05401 Dear Dick, We wish to appeal the zoning ordinance requiring all non-residential buildings to be set back 100 feet from a property line. It is our understanding that the purpose of this ordinance would provide a distance of 100 feet to the line plus 50 feet required to a residence on the other side of a boundary. Thus insuring a comfort zone of 150 feet between homes and out buildings on adjoining property. We agree with the philosphy behind this ordinance, and in requesting a variance we are still insuring a minimum of 170 feet between our proposed barn and any future homes to be built on the adjoining property. The small barn (33x24) we propose to build to the rear and off to the right of our home would be 60 feet south of the northern boundary of our property. It should be noted that in an agreement with South Burlington on 12/16/82 there is a 60 foot right of way running parallel to and adjoining the northern boundary of our property. Therefore'.if a house were to be built on the Lang property to our north it would be an additional 50 feet from the northern edge of the 60 foot right of way. So any house built would be a total of 170 feet away from our barn, 20 feet more than the minimum required now. We hope you will consider our request for a variance to enhance the esthetic and practical use of our property allowing us to place our small barn 60 feet from our northern boundary. Thank you, es B.
