HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Recreation and Parks Committee - 03/29/2018 RECREATION AND PARKS COMMITTEE MONDAY, March 29, 2018 5 PM-7:00 PM Medium Conference Room, City Offices APPROVED Minutes In aendance: Jennifer Kochman, Mike Simoneau, Glenn Sproul, Kae Langrock, Linda Chiasson, Paul Steinman, Rebecca Poquee Regrets: George Donovan, Liz Robitaille Staff: Maggie Leugers, Holly Baker Jennifer called the meeng to order at 5pm Mike reviewed safety procedures There were no changes or addions to the agenda There were no comments from the public not related to the agenda Glenn moved to approve the minutes from 2/ 26/18 meeng Linda seconded and the minutes were approved unanimously. (5:05) Director’s Report: (Verbal) Maggie and Holly- Reviewed Underwood presentation being presented at City Council later in the evening. Preliminary estimates have been received. Dog Park meeting held on 3/13/18. Task force presentation to City Council planned for April. Exploring potential location options, reviewing matrix for criteria. Safety has been a major consideration. Name the Park. Name submissions are currently being collected online at Recandparks.sbvt.gov Welcome Center in City Hall is now taking registrations for Recreation & Parks Increase in field and facility usage for events Lacrosse registration is currently open expect increased participation Knight to Remember promotions are happening. SunCommon - April thru June, they will be providing some energy tips and info at events. LLBean programs will not be returning to Red Rocks this summer. Weekly Recreation updates are well received. Great tips coming weekly! Sign up for newsletter on Recreation and Parks section of city website. (5:40pm) Library Meetings & Advocacy Jennifer attended several of the library visioning meetings and spoke of the value of our committee members attending such events. Discussion at these meetings further indicated that we need space for a Senior Center and general space for programs from Recreation & Parks. (5:45pm) Executive Session re: land acquisition Rebecca moved that the committee move into Executive Session, Glenn seconded, all in favor. Committee went into Executive session Committee exited Executive session at 6:35pm (6:35pm) Updates: Jennifer Foundation - meeting within the next month Wheeler Oak Creek - reviewed memo from Chris Shaw. Committee to discuss at next meeting after further review of information provided. The Recreation and Parks’ Resolution on PUD. Jennifer has requested a formal presentation of this resolution with the Planning Commission NRPA Summary to be presented at an upcoming City Council meeting (potentially 4/2) (6:45 pm) Brief Liaison Reports (6:50) Glenn moved to adjourn the meeng, seconded by Mike.
