HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Recreation and Parks Committee - 02/10/2014RECREATION AND LEISURE ARTS COMMITTEE FEBRUARY 10, 2014 MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT: Glenn Sproul, Jennifer Kochman, Edie Robenstein, Liz Robitaille, Linda Janes, Laura DeMaroney notified us that she would not be here ALSO PRESENT: Todd Goodwin, Recreation Director 1. Called to order at 5:05 p.m. Minutes – delete Pool Insider Recreation (see minutes) 4a. Recreation and parks Accepted as amended 2. City Center Wish list Revisited (what we would like to see..) Task Force shared space, performing space, kitchen & dining area Insider dedicated – track seating up to 500 people Asked Todd how many offices they would need Reception desk – rec/library person Offices upstairs- unsure of the exact number Downstairs-office off gym staffed by a program person Discussion about library/rec area -Right now-what can we do together (Library/rec. dept) Discussion followed - Meeting with library committee fully be a collaboration in the future -Discussion about “centers” areas to be discussed (last page) Where do they go Bold Heading for “Additional Spaces to be discussed” -Invite library board staff to the next Recreation and Leisure Arts meeting March 17, 2014 for an open discussion about collaboration, etc. on space and programs Glenn will extend invitation to Board, and Todd will extend invitation to Louise Murphy for March 17th -Reviewed “Basic Information” about RLA Committee, made changes that Glenn will make on the document. See next draft. We will look at it again when it is revised-Glenn will send it out -Grant from Chittenden County Regional Planning commission will identify what we need to do to have park access ADA compliance as of 2014 We are in compliance with 1991 standards Grant will tell us what we need to do to bring our parks up to standards of 2014. This will be done by June, 2014. Grant has to include community outreach run by this committee. Open forum format is suggested We will look over report –our committee is named as “primary stakeholders” receive/digest information -Downstairs: is being retrofitted 600 sq. ft. for the Recreation Department to use for Yoga, youth fitness preschool -Employees fitness room is in another space - Other spaces “makers space” 1 day class classroom.
