HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Natural Resources Committee - 08/03/2016South Burlington Natural Resources Committee 575 Dorset Street South Burlington, VT 05403 (802) 846-4106 www.sburl.com   Wednesday, August 3, 2016 6:00pm South Burlington Municipal Offices, 575 Dorset Street MEETING MINUTES for Regular Monthly Meeng Present: Bey Milizia (NRC Co-Chair), Melissa Cuke (NRC Co-Chair), Sean Devine (NRC Member), Cathyann LaRose (NRC Staff Liaison - SB City Planner), David Crawford (NRC Member) The meeng was called to order at 6:09pm. Addions, Deleons, or Changes to Agenda: Cuke asked if there were any requested changes. Milizia discussed the recent appointment of four new members to the commiee (David Crawford, Kae Kain, Krisn Williams, and Gwen Koziowski). LaRose passed around a list of member’s names and contact informaon and asked the members to review and make any required correcons. Crawford, a newly appointed member of the commiee requested informaon on the organizaonal structure of the commiee. LaRose suggested spending me during one of the upcoming meengs working on organizaonal items. LaRose also discussed the October 22nd, 2016 Conservaon Summit of the Associaon of Vermont Conservaon Commissions. Members of the South Burlington NRC are welcome to aend and the City of South Burlington will pay for the registraon and reimburse mileage. Ms. LaRose asked the members to contact her if they would like to aend, and asked we let her know prior to September 17th. Comments from Public: No members of the public were in aendance. Approval of June and July Minutes: Due to the lack of a quorum of members, approval of past meeng minutes were tabled unl the next monthly meeng. Welcome and Introducons: The Commiee welcomed Mr. Crawford. Present members introduced themselves and detailed what brought them to want to serve on the commiee. Mr. Crawford, who is also a member of the Winooski Valley Parks District Board of Trustees on behalf of South Burlington, described his career and experience serving on public commiees. Updates on Task Force and Jens Hilke Presentaon - Open Space and Natural Area Enhancement Fund Task Force: Mr. Devine provided an update on the most recent meeng of the Task Force including the work done by the members to priorize proposed projects. Ms. Cuke asked about meeng minutes and if they were being posted on the city website as she had been unable to find them. Mr. Devine and Ms. LaRose indicated they would speak to the chair of the Task Force regarding the minutes - Wheeler Conservaon Easement Task Force: Ms. Cuke provided an update on the most recent meengs of the task force. - Jens Hilke Presentaon: Ms. Milizia provided a brief recap of the presentaon for Mr. Crawford. Members present concurred ongoing discussion regarding Mr. Hilke’s services were best le for a more complete grouping of the members during a subsequent meeng. - Stream Team Discussion: Ms. Milizia provided some informaon on this group and their workings and the members present determined that providing the informaon to the Recreaon and Parks Commiee members may be most appropriate Next Steps: Next Meengs: The next Natural Resources Commiee meeng is Wednesday, September 7th at 6pm. Mr. Crawford suggested a list of priories be discussed and Mr. Devine discussed the group’s recent aempts to review and update the “Good Ideas List” which Ms. Milizia indicated she would forward to Mr. Crawford. The next meeng will include approval of previous meengs minutes. The Natural Resources Commiee normally meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Meeng adjourned by mutual consent at 7:43 pm.
