HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Library Board of Trustees - 11/13/2018 - Fundraising Committee Fundraising Committee Meeting November 13, 2018 Minutes Present: Jay Pasackow, Nancy Simson, Bonnie Finnigan, MargaretAnn Cross, Stacey Pape, Myke Esposito, Jennifer Murray 1. Jay called the meeting to order at 5:10 PM 2. Additions and Deletions: added Barb Devine event proposal 3. Approval the minutes for October 23, 2108: Stacey made the motion with Myke, a 2nd. Approved. 4. Update on annual fundraising letter: Annual mailing letters (@5000) were mailed October 3, 2018. Responses received to date -- 61. Total cost of mailing: $2973 and $3,247 was raised with gifts ranging from $10-$250. Suggestion was made to post on Front Porch Forum to advocate for giving on Giving Tuesday. Jay also suggested that we print 250 business reply envelopes for events and to have on hand at the library for those interested in making a gift. 5. Capital Campaign discussion: Nancy, Jay and Patrick came together to create an A and B list for the Capital Campaign Committee. Potential committee members were considered based on their ability to give and their engagement with South Burlington community. There are 13A and 10B names on the list. Before people are asked to join the committee, we need to have the Case for Support, a tangible list of items we are fundraising for and a Job Description prepared. 6. Review of Case for Support: We reviewed MargaretAnn’s irst draft of the Case for Support and made just a few edits and suggestions. MargaretAnn will update and redistribute to the committee before we share with the full Board. 7. Additional agenda item: Jay brought forth Barb Devine’s interest in holding a fundraising this spring for the library. The committee agreed that Jay would go back to Barb and ask for a proposal that outlines her thoughts around the scope of event and the costs that may be incurred. 8. No comments from the public.
