HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Library Board of Trustees - 07/05/2018 - Fundraising & Advocacy Committee Fundraising /Advocacy Committees Joint Meeting Thursday, July 5, 2018 at South Burlington Public Library Minutes Presen Present: MargaretAnn Cross, Linda Darlington, Bonnie Finnigan, Lee Freeman, Jay Pasackow, Nancy Simson and Jennifer Murray Meeting was called to order by Jay at 4:08 pm. Additions or deletions to posted agenda: None Approval of 6/21/18 Fundraising/Advocacy Committee Minutes: MargaretAnn motioned to approve the minutes; Bonnie seconded. All were in favor. Motion passed. Update of 6/25 meeting with City Council, LBOT, and Public: Those that attended the meeting agreed that the revised plan looked good. The plan is now posted on the wall of the Library. Initial cost estimates and parking plans are scheduled to be presented to the Design Committee on Monday, July 9th. The City Council should have inal igures and a presentation from the Project Manager by August 11th. Timeline changes /adjustments: - Moving Forward: The committee discussed naming opportunities for areas within the Library. Lee also presented a visual mock-up of potential “elevator talks” that could be shown to community members relative to what a new library could be. He will have additional possibilities for the next BOT meeting (July 12th) Jay and Nancy reported on their discussions with members of the South Burlington Business Association. Jay will set up a meeting with the fundraising consultant Christine Graham of CPG Enterprises. The meeting will also include Bonnie and MargaretAnn. Nancy and Penne are investigating software companies to track fundraising and for the upcoming Capital Campaign. Jennifer suggested setting up a meeting with members of the LBOT, Rec Department (Jennifer and Holly) and a representative from the City at 4 pm - just before the LBOT meeting on July 12th to coordinate our messaging for the November vote. Blanchee Funds usage in Capital Campaign and Advocacy/Publicity: It was reported that the LBOT can use the Blanchee Funds toward fundraising if the purpose is for building a new library. Advocacy for the vote will have to come from other funds. Date of next meeng: Fundraising will meet at the Library on July 19th at 4pm. Advocacy will meet at the Library on August 2 at 5 pm. Adjournment: At 6 pm Bonnie made the moon that the meeng adjourns. Nancy seconded.
