HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Library Board of Trustees - 01/04/2018 - Advocacy Committee Advocacy Committee Meeting Minutes of the LBOT held at the South Burlington Public Library Conference Room at the University Mall on January 4, 2018 Attendees: Penne Tompkins, Linda Darlington, Kathy Mackin and Jennifer Murray. Regrets: Bonnie Finnigan, Mark Coel Guest: Ilona Blanchard, Project Director 1. Acting Chair Penne Tompkins called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. 2. Penne asked if there were any additions and/or deletions to the posted agenda; there were none. 3. Penne asked if there were any corrections to the Advocacy Meeting Minutes of December 7, 2016; there were none. Kathy requested approval of the minutes as written; Linda seconded the motion; and all voted in favor of the minutes. 4. Ilona presented the architectural timeline and marketing plan which included, the “SoBu Spaces 2020: Engage, Create, Build, Public Outreach Schedule” that has been designed to develop the Library/City Hall on Market Street concept. The plan is attached. She reviewed the plan and then a discussion ensued regarding the Board’s role in achieving public participation. The initial focus is to support community attendance at two critical Visioning Workshops for the public on January 18 and 20. Many communications channels as outlined in the marketing plan were discussed with different media being utilized including social media to encourage community attendance, e.g. Twitter, Facebook, etc. (Note: A workshop will be set up to assist with social media applications.) It was noted that representatives from the Board need to attend the Workshops to support the Visioning Kickoffs and that the Library staff and the Friends will be involved in the outreach efforts for attendance at the Workshops. 5. Based upon the timeline that Ilona presented, the Advocacy Committee adopted the Plan’s timeline to support the Committee’s advocacy efforts. 6. The next Advocacy Committee Meeting will be held on February 1, 2018 at 5:00 pm in the conference room at the South Burlington Public Library at the University Mall. At 6:20 p.m., Linda moved and Kathy seconded a motion to adjourn. All voted to accept the motion.
