HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Energy Committee - 02/02/2017 Approved Meeng Minutes February 2, 2017 Prepared by Keith Epstein Committee members present: Keith Epstein, Linda McGinnis, Marcy Murray, Karen Mckenny (Chair), Sam Swanson, Fred Kosnitsky Committee members absent: Don Cummings, James Mount, Patty Tashiro, Jeremy King Community members present: Kyle Hutchins, Katie Langrock, Tim Perrin, key account manager with Efficiency Vermont, Paul Markowitz, community energy program manager with Efficiency Vermont City staff present: None Katie Langrock, a City Council candidate, introduced herself to the energy committee. MOTION: Keith moved and Karen seconded a motion to approve the January 5th minutes. Approved unanimously. DART discussion, led by Fred Kosnitsky Fred gave an update on DART. The committee discussed a few ideas including solar on parking lots, solar on the high school football bleachers, and net zero city center. MOTION: Fred moved and Linda seconded a motion to recommend to City Council that South Burlington apply for the 2017 DART program for assistance in making city center net zero energy. Approved unanimously. Fred will coordinate communication with City Council, with assistance from Keith as needed. Discussion with Efficiency Vermont about learnings from GUEP and ideas for further collaboration between SBEC and Efficiency Vermont Members discussed with Tim Perrin and Paul Markowitz several ideas for collaboration. Paul will keep in touch with Keith to keep the discussion going and potentially work together on some new programs. South Burlington Energy Prize Updates Members reviewed accomplishments, help needed, and plans for the next month. Linda volunteered to invite Melanie Needle from the CCRPC (Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission) and Dave Roberts from VEIC (Vermont Energy Investment Corporation) to discuss transportation planning and electric vehicles at our March meeting. MOTION: Keith moved and Fred seconded a motion to use the $500 Rotary grant to purchase more energy conservation kits in partnership with Vermont Gas to distribute on town meeting day. Approved unanimously. Keith will coordinate purchasing of the kits with Vermont Gas and obtain the rest of the kits that are left over from the previous purchase to distribute on town meeting day to people who fill out the energy actions checklist. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 9 p.m.
