HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Energy Committee - 08/27/2013SBEC Special Meeting Thursday, August 27, 2013-6:30 pm South Burlington Municipal Offices, 2nd Floor, 575 Dorset Street Attendees: Laura Waters – SBEC Keith Epstein – SBEC Don Cummings – SBEC Sam Swanson – SBEC, Chair Karen McKenny – SBEC, Vice Chair Marcy Murray - SBEC Peter Tousley-SBEC Absent: Marc Companion No public in attendance. Special Work Planning Meeting convened. • Don moved that the August 1st meeting minutes be reviewed at the regularly scheduled September meeting. Keith seconded. The motion passed unanimously. • Work plans, priorities and committee members identified as lead on the following projects. Specific work plans to be developed at future meetings. • Home Energy Challenge: Keith, Don, and Laura. Initiatives discussed: neighborhood canvassing, FPF, Newsletter, SB Other paper, investigate best practices around the US for outreach. • Go Vermont: Grant work accomplished. Karen to review and submit application completion. Contact Fred Kosnitsky to assist with an article. • Working with and strengthening relationships with City Council and other City committees: full group. One on one meetings with members. • Improve efficiency of City government energy use: Peter to investigate providing assistance with RFP. • Georgetown University Energy Program: Keith, Don, and Laura. Working with Efficiency Vermont with letter of intent, and application. Other issues: Keith discussed the upcoming button up day and will investigate opportunities for the committee to participate as an immediate move to promote the home energy challenge. http://buttonupvermont.org/ Continued need for a school liaison with energy committee: Marcy Discussion regarding drafting an energy policy: Group Newsletter to promote initiatives and increase awareness of the public about the SBEC: Karen Vision meeting discussion and talking points for consultant meeting: Sam and Don to attend. Laura moved to adjourn the meeting. Peter seconded. The motion passed unanimously. The Committee will meeting next at 7 PM on September 5 at the City Offices on Dorset Street.
