about their efforts to transition to 100% renewable energy. They invited us to attend a
meeting to meet the students on May 5th and share our ideas about what would be
useful for them to learn and bring back. Here are the comments that I submitted in
advance of the meeting:
“ I'm curious what the financials are for commercial PV, and what was done to motivate
businesses to install it. Do they have the same problem we have that the occupants of the
building are often not the owners, so neither occupant nor owner are motivated to install PV, and
if so what did they do to overcome that challenge?
Same question for commercial energy retrofits”
Plans:
Attend on May 5th to learn and provide advice
Help Needed:
What would you like to learn? I can submit more questions in advance.
H.423 to remove net metering limit letter • Keith Epstein • last updated 4/8/19
Accomplishments:
A house bill, H.423, proposes to remove the net metering limit for municipalities and
schools. This limit is preventing South Burlington from net metering the proposed solar array on
our new city hall and library. Linda and Ilona worked diligently to get City Council to approve a
resolution in support of this legislation.
Plans:
Send a letter from SBEC to other energy committees encouraging them to ask their
legislators to support this bill. VECAN has drafted a letter that explains the bill, and our letter
would be an introduction to that letter.
