Chair report: Sebastien and Penne brought chocolate and flowers to the SBSD Public Gallery Exhibit opening to thank Jessica for her curator work. ARPA allocation update: CC determined the interests needing fundings: Public art’s request for a cultural plan is strongly being considered as a potential recipient. Staff update: Overview of TIF district provided. Public Infrastructure still to be completed: Garden Street, Williston Rd streetscape, City center Park connection, multiuse bridge crossing I-89. Jaycee park art: creation of the piece in progress. The framing is going to be colored and larger. Penne like the original thin white frame better. Amanda, Betty and Penne are concerned that frames of different colors change the art piece by diverting the focus from the translucent plexiglass. Ilona is getting samples to of material. Williston Rd Streetscape: School has requested changing the metal 4’ fence to a 6 ft tall opaque wood fence. It is 175 ft in linear length along the shared use path. The City is in discussions with the School District regarding this project. There are two potential treatments for this fence to deter graffiti. One would be that the School District works with their students to create art on panels that is affixed to the fence. Another is that the City Public Art committee decides that the fence is the appropriate location for art, selects and artist (ideally one that works with schools to produce art work), and then the City Council Public Art Committee | PAGE 2 commissions the public art that gets affixed to the wall and it is owned and maintained by the City.
