Call to order Trice Stratmann called the meeting to order at 5:35 PM. No changes were made to the agenda. 2. Minutes No minutes were presented 3. Public Comments No public comments were made. 4. Discussion – Market Street Public Art Ilona Blanchard explained that she has asked the committee together for some guidance regarding the progress of the selected public art for the Market Street project – the geese at the west pond. She provided a PowerPoint of the current status of each of the commissioned geese, most of which had been completed. She explained that some design/concept evolution and artistic interpretation within a commission was expected from the concept stage through to fabrication, and that two of the pieces could be seen in this light, but merited discussion as to whether they satisfied the original commission. At a visit to the artist’s studio the prior week, this had been discussed. In response, the artist had revised the cardboard mockup of the largest piece – the one with outstretched wings, and also a new version of the caller. The two pieces under question were reviewed. The first one, with outstretched wings, was seen as more in line with the committee’s expectation (noting that Jennifer Kochman also liked the earlier version). The second one, “Caller” was also discussed. There were two options on the table for consideration. The first option was to keep the already fabricated less upright version, and the stroller. The second option was for the artist to fabricate a new goose more upright version based on the revised cardboard mock up. If a second version was fabricated, one of the two geese – “stroller” or “caller” version one, would be sold by the artist to a private buyer who had expressed interest in the piece. The artist had also conveyed previously that as a group, the 1st caller might fit better with the rest of the commission then stroller, which was somewhat similar to two other geese – “hunter” and “mother”. The committee discussed it and there was consensus that they preferred the more upright caller represented in the card board mock-up. They also did not mind the first stroller goose going into a private collection and agreed that the walking caller had more personality and should be included with the City’s commission over the original stroller. 5. Adjourn The meeting was adjourned at 6 PM.
