HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Common Areas for Dogs Committee - 12/12/2023Common Area for Dogs Committee Meeting Minutes Tuesday, December 12, 2023 Members Present: Betty Milizia (Chair), Robyn Birgisson (Vice Chair), Lisa Yankowski, Molly Joy (Clerk) Staff Present: Helen Riehle (City Council Chair), Adam Matth (Director of Recreation and Parks Department) Public Present: Linda Bailey Betty called the meeting to order at 6:09 PM. 1.Adopt Agenda The agenda was adopted without changes. 2.Public Comments (Unrelated to Agenda) None 3.Review and Approve Minutes The committee approved the October 10th minutes. 4.Introduce Director of Recreation and Parks Department Adam Math, the New Director of the Recreation and Parks Department, introduced himself to the Committee. 5.Update on Farrell Dog Park Stormwater Project Manager, Monica Ingalls, is still working through wetland delineation. Monica has had difficulty with connecting with the State Department. The plan has been through review with the Planning and Zoning Department who made recommendations ahead of the DRB approval. The timing for completion of the work is still to be determined. 6.Update on Wheeler Dog Park The new messaging board has been placed on the front right exterior gate, visible for users of park as they walk in. Adam will follow up with Holly regarding the QR code used for those who would like to donate to the dog park fund maintained by city. 7.August Email to Adam Cate RE: Next Steps on Various Requests The Committee is still awaiting a response from Adam Cate (DPW Operations Manager) on questions that were raised in August, as to next steps on the following: •Dog bag stations to be placed around the city approved as part of FY24 CIP •Addition of benches – 6 total (this later changed to 8 during September on-site meeting) •Addition of dog bag stations and placement • Addition of water line from house to park • Addition of 3 mature shade trees • Removal of tree stumps Betty will forward email to Adam Matth to follow up directly with Adam Cate. 8. Update on Draft Comprehensive Plan There is an upcoming hearing. There were no questions on the plan. 9. Continue Discussion “To Leash or Not to Leash” Survey Results The survey results have been summarized with bar charts along with narrative explaining survey. The survey results should be published in the Other Paper with a link to the results summary along with a briefing on our findings. Adam will share the results summary with the Recreation and Parks Committee before publishing the results. 10. Future Meetings Tuesday, January 9th, 6 – 7 PM MOTION TO ADJOURN AT 7:15 PM PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
