DRAFT Meeting Minutes
Tuesday August 15, 2023 Attendees: Penne Tompkins (Chair), John Killacky, Sebastian Ryder, Ilona Blanchard (staff), Sophia Babbitt, and Amanda Holland Public: None Members absent: Michele Bailey Minutes 1. Meeting was called to order at 6:05 pm. 2. Penne reviewed the emergency procedures. 3. Sebastian was identified as minutes taker. 4. The meeting agenda was approved. John moved. Sophia seconded, with Amanda abstaining. Agenda was approved.
5. Meeting minutes from 7/18/2023 were approved.
6. Members, Sophia and Amanda introduced themselves to new member Sebastian Ryder and
she introduced herself to them.
7. Chair Report: Penne invited PAC members to attend the 9/18/2023 City Council meeting for the discussion of ARPA fund distribution.
8. FY 20-23 Annual Report – John moved to approve. Amanda seconded. Annual report was approved.
9. Jessica Manley joined the meeting via zoom for a gallery check-in. John moved to accept upcoming shows as appropriate. Sophia seconded. Upcoming shows were approved.
There was discussion around Inclusion, Diversity and Equity with regard to Gallery Goals and Calls to Artists for upcoming shows.
10. John offered an update on the status of the Vermont Arts Council Grant. A $5000 visual outdoor mural or $15,000 for implementation of a commission that would entail:
April, 2024 – call for work
May, 2024 – selection of work
June, 2024 – vote
11. Ilona gave the committee a staff update. She informed us that the council voted against
public art in Hubbard Park. There was discussion, but no conclusion, regarding which South Burlington parks might accommodate a public art project. Next meeting was confirmed for September 19, 2023, at 5:30 pm. Meeting was adjourned at 7:23 pm.
