MINUTES of the Committee meeting on May 16, 2023 in Room 301 of City Hall, 180 Market
Street, South Burlington, in person and remotely.
Members present: Tom Bailey, Sriram “Srini” Srinivasan, Michael Biama, John Burton, Ken
Linge and Charles Johnson attended all in person.
Members absent: Sriram “Srini” Srinivasan
Others in attendance: Jessie Baker, City Manager and Kelsey Peterson, City Planner attended in
person.
John Burton called the meeting to order at 4:10 PM and proceeded to address the items on the
agenda.
1.Welcome, agenda review and approval: It was agreed that, after Agenda items 1, 2 and 3,
the Committee would proceed directly to Item 5. The agenda was approved as amended.
2. Public Comments on items not on the agenda: There were no public comments.
3. Approval of minutes of April 11, 2023 meeting: Tom moved to approve the minutes of
the April 11, 2023 meeting. Michael seconded the motion which was approved
unanimously.
5 Discussion of draft of Economic Development section of the Comprehensive Plan:
Kelsey led off the discussion of the draft that was circulated previously by defining what
is was intended in considering the “Objectives” section and differentiating it from goals.
She noted that this is the Committee’s “last big chance” to provide input to the Planning
Commission in formulating a Comprehensive Plan draft. There followed a ranging
discussion of the language that should be included in the Committee’s input. Tom took
notes on the discussion, as did John, and agreed that he would after the meeting promptly
circulate an updated draft of the Committee’s input for the Committee members so that
they could provide final comments, after which John would submit the input.
6 Adjournment: No other agenda items were considered. The meeting adjourned at 5:40
PM.
