Approved Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, March 21, 2023, 5:30 pm meeting
In Room 201, South Burlington Public Library and City Hall, 180 Market Street
In attendance: Jean Chaulot, Penne Tompkins, Sophia Babbitt, John Killacky and Amanda Holland
Absent: Trice Stratmann
Also in Attendance: Ilona Blanchard (staff)
Call to order
Penne Tompkins called the meeting to order at 5:31 pm.
Minutes
February 2023 Minutes approved with slight amendment. (Sophia moved, Amanda seconded)
Public Comments: No public attended.
Gallery Update
Curator Jessica Manley presented the next two exhibitions that were unanimously approved:
Vermont Vernacular, March 16 – end of May, a show featuring 4 Vermont artists
South Burlington Student exhibition, June-July which is being coordinated with the schools
(John moved, Jean seconded)
Project updates
Ilona Blanchard gave staff updates:
Public Art commission may be best suited to be installed in Hubbard Park.
Planning Commission has not yet met to move the City Plan forward therefore there is no new material
for the committee to review.
Cultural Plan Funding Request to be included with ARPA funds has not yet been determined.
Katie O’Brien Barrett will be painting new utility boxes on Shelburne Road.
Work Plan
Committee updated Work Plan to be approved at next meeting, including adding clarification of roles
and responsibilities of Public Art Committee with pertinent Departments and City Staff.
Other Business
Committee approved moving our monthly meeting time up to 5:30 pm. April meeting will have a
committee photo taken.
Adjournment
Penne Tompkins adjourned the meeting at 6:58 pm.
