HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 06/06/2005CITY COUNCIL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING 6 JUNE 2005 The South Burlington City Council held an organizational meeting on Monday, 6 June 2005, at 7:15 p.m., in the Conference Room, City Hall, 575 Dorset St. Members Present: J. Condos, C. Smith, D. O'Rourke, S. Magowan, M. Boucher Also Present: D. Gravelin, Assistant City Manager; D. Kinville, City Clerk; 1. Administer Oath of Office: The City Clerk administered the oath of office to newly elected and re-elected Council members Mark Boucher and Chris Smith. 2. Election of City Council Officers: Mr. Gravelin presided over the election of officers. Mr. Smith nominated Mr. Condos for Chair. Mr. O'Rourke seconded. There were no further nominations and Mr. Condos was elected unanimously. Mr. Magowan nominated Mr. Smith for Vice Chair. Mr. O'Rourke seconded. There were no further nominations and Mr. Smith was elected unanimously. Mr. O'Rourke nominated Mr. Boucher for Clerk. Mr. Magowan seconded. There were no further nominations, and Mr. Boucher was elected unanimously. Mr. Condos presided over the remainder of the meeting. 3. Set time/place for regular meetings; approve annual meeting schedule: Mr. O'Rourke moved that Council meetings be held the first and third Mondays of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room, City Hall. Mr. Smith seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Members also reviewed a proposed schedule for meetings in the upcoming year. 4. Annual Appointments to be Made by Majority Vote of City Council pursuant to City Charter, Chapter 3, Section 301(2): Mr. Condos read the list of appointments as follows: Mr. Magowan moved to approve the reappointment of all incumbents as presented. Mr. O'Rourke seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 5. Information on Appointments to be Made by City Council in June/July: Members reviewed the list and agreed to publicize available positions on boards and commissions.
