CITY COUNCIL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING 2 JUNE 2003 The South Burlington City Council held an organizational meeting on Monday, 2 June 2003, at 7:30 p.m., in the conference room, City Hall, 575 Dorset St. Members present: J. Condos, T. Sheahan, S. Magowan, D. O'Rourke Also present: C. Hafter, City Manager; D. Gravelin, Assistant City Manager; D. Kinville, City Clerk, Rep. S. Audette; T. Hubbard, Recreation Department; J. B. Hoover, Director of Planning & Zoning; A. Johnston, The Other Paper Mr. Hafter presided over the beginning of the meeting. He noted that Councilman Smith had been sworn in earlier in the week as he could not be present at this meeting. 1. Administer oath of office: The City Clerk administered the oath of office to Councilman Steve Magowan. 2. Election of officers: Mr. Hafter asked for nomination for City Council Chair. Mr. Sheahan nominated Mr. Condos. There were no further nominations, and Mr. Condos was elected unanimously. Mr. O'Rourke nominated Mr. Sheahan for Vice Chair. There were no further nominations, and Mr. Sheahan was elected unanimously. Mr. Magowan nominated Mr. Smith for Clerk. There were no further nominations, and Mr. Smith was elected unanimously. Mr. Condos presided over the remainder of the organizational meeting. 3. Set time and place for regular meeting: Mr. Sheahan moved the Council set their regular meetings for the first and third Mondays of the month at 7:30 p.m., in the City Hall conference room. Mr. Magowan seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 4. Annual appointments to be made by majority vote of City Council pursuant to City Charter, Chapter 3, Section 301(2): Mr. Condos read the list positions as follows: City Treasurer Donna Kinville Asst. City Treasurer Dennis Gravelin City Attorney Stitzel & Page Zoning Administrator Ray Belair Asst. Zoning Administrator Vacant Auditor Angolano & Company First Constable Lt. Ernie Lemay Second Constable Officer Paul Edwards Grand Juror Charles Hafter City Agent & Trustee of Public Funds Charles Hafter Mr. O'Rourke moved to approve the slate of appointments as presented. Mr. Magowan seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 5. Information on appointments to be made by City Council in June and July: Mr. Condos briefly reviewed the list. Mr. Hafter said appointments from the City Council and City staff will be made at the next meeting.
