RE: Ability to Accept Wastewater From a Proposed Cannabis Grow Operation at 57 Commerce Avenue
Dear Mr. Collins,
I’m writing in response to your recent request to establish a small-scale cannabis grow operation at 57
Commerce Avenue in South Burlington. After reviewing City records, I have determined that 57
Commerce Avenue has a wastewater allocation of 420 GPD (approved on 3/21/06), which is split
between the 6 units located on the property. Therefore, each unit is allocated 70 GPD. I have also
gathered the following information regarding your proposed operation:
There will be one or two employees on site.
The grow operation will utilize 1,000 square feet.
Plants will be grown in soil using a drip irrigation system.
No pesticides will be utilized.
Soil will be disposed of in a dumpster and will not be discharged to the wastewater system.
No processing of cannabis into other products will take place on site.
Based on the above, I find that the South Burlington wastewater system has the capacity to accept the
volume of wastewater that will be produced and that the strength of the wastewater will not be
detrimental to our treatment system or the safety or our staff. If the nature of your operation changes
please be sure to reach out again and confirm that we can continue to provide wastewater services to your
facility without the need for pre-treatment or an additional allocation. If you have further questions,
