CITY COUNCIL 24 MAY 1993 The South Burlington City Council held a regular meeting on Monday, 24 May 1993, at 7:30 p.m., in the Conference Room, City Hall, 575 Dorset St. Members Present: Michael Flaherty, Chairman; James Condos, Robert Chittenden, John Dinklage Also Present: Charles Hafter, City Manager; Ruth Poger, The Other Paper; Peg Strait, Assistant City Manager; Margaret Picard, Assistant City Manager; Albert Audette, Street Dept; Sandy Greiner, Free Press; Dave Maclaughlin 1. Comments & Questions from the Audience, not related to Agenda Items: No issues were raised. Mr. Hafter noted receipt of a form regarding claims for federal emergency funds resulting from the recent flooding. The city needs to appoint an agent in case there are claims to be evaluated. Mr. Condos moved to appoint Mr. Hafter as "applicant's agent" for federal emergency funds. Mr. Dinklage seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 2. Request for approval of Tax Rates to support 1993-4 fiscal year budget and special assessment districts: Mr. Dinklage moved to approve the city tax rate of .798. Mr. Condos seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Dinklage moved to approve the Dorset Street special assessment rate of 28.5¢. Mr. Condos seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Dinklage moved to approve the special assessment rate for Swift Estates/Ethan Allen Farm Industrial Park at 25.9¢. Mr. Condos seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Dinklage moved to approve the special assessment rate of 50.2¢ for Country Club Estates. Mr. Condos seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Dinklage moved to approve the sewer user fee of 10.70 per 1,000 cu. ft. of water use, effective 1 June 1993. Mr. Condos seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Appointment of Councilmembers to Ad Hoc Committees: Mr. Dinklage and Mr. Cimonetti were appointed to the legal services committee. Mr. Flaherty was appointed to the Dorset Boulevard Celebration committee. 4. Resignation of Elizabeth Merrill from Library Board of Trustees: Mr. Dinklage moved to accept the resignation of Elizabeth. Merrill from the Library Board of Trustees and to instruct the City Manager to send a letter of appreciation for her past service to the city. Mr. Condos seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 5. Review Planning Commission Agenda for 25 May: No issues were raised. Executive Session: Mr. Dinklage moved the Council adjourn and reconvene in Executive Session to discuss contract negotiations and to resume regular session only for the purpose of adjournment. Mr. Condos seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Regular Session: The Council returned to regular session. Mr. Chittenden moved adjournment. Mr. Condos seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
