HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 03/18/1993CITY COUNCIL 18 MARCH 1993 The South Burlington City Council held a meeting on Thursday, 18 March 1993, at 9:15 p.m., in the Conference Room, City Hall, 575 Dorset St. Members Present: Michael Flaherty, Chairman; John Dinklage, James Condos, Robert Chittenden, William Cimonetti Also Present: Charles Hafter, City Manager; Peg Strait, Asst. City Manager 1. Consideration of Tabled Motion: Mr. Flaherty asked Mr. Dinklage to Chair the meeting as he had a potential conflict of interest. Mr. Cimonetti suggested that the Council has accomplished some good by discussing the issue. He felt if there is some current movement in school contract negotiations, he wasn't anxious to take a public vote on the motion at this time and recommended leaving the motion on the table. Other members agreed. 2. Other Business: Mr. Cimonetti raised the question of zoning in the Southeast Quadrant and noted there is an open public hearing in the Planning Commission for the Milot development on the former Nowland property. This will be heard again on 30 March. In the analysis by the Planning Commission and staff and by the City Attorney, it seems that what the new zoning in the Quadrant has accomplished is to create a situation where density from undevelopable acreage is leading to creation of 1/4 acre zoning in developable areas. A second issue is the sewerage plan. Mr. Cimonetti felt the issue shouldn't be decided by the Planning Commission but by the City Council. There is also an issue of school impact fees. Mr. Cimonetti proposed a joint meeting with the Commission as soon as possible. The Council suggested April 12, 1993 as a possible date for the meeting. 3. Mr. Hafter confirmed the 3/29 meeting with the Shelburne Selectboard. As there was no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m. Clerk Published by ClerkBase ©2019 by Clerkbase. No Claim to Original Government Works.
