Hi Marla,
Our team's designer, McFarland Johnson, has reviewed the comments below and made an adjustment to our
analysis of stormwater. This is described within the attached letter.
The stormwater system’s size was dictated by the state operational standards and not the infiltration
rate. Reducing the rate by a factor of safety of 2 only increased the amount of time it takes to empty, however
still within the recommended standards.
Feel free to contact us with any further questions.

Jacquie

Hi Larry,
As discussed, here are the comments of the City Stormwater Section on your application. I didn’t identify any other
issues with the application, and the Board will ask you to resolve these issues before closing. If you can work with
Stormwater to get the issues resolved, that’s great, but my report is due Wednesday, so if you need more time, let me
know and we’ll continue the hearing. Thanks!
The Stormwater Section has reviewed the “Burlington International Airport – Rehabilitate TWY A and Construct New
Paved TWY Shoulders” site plan prepared by McFarland Johnson, dated 2/18/22. We would like to offer the following
comments:
1. The HydroCAD model appears to use 13.730 in/hr for an infiltration rate for the proposed infiltration
system. It appears from the Geotechnical Investigation report that the average of the two nearest infiltration
rates (SW-9 & SW-10) to the proposed infiltration system is 15.7 inches per hour. Applying a factor of safety
of 2, would yield an infiltration rate of 7.85 in/hr. Please confirm how the 13.73 in/hr was arrived at.
2. Consider adding an isolator row to the proposed infiltration system, with manholes on either end for
maintenance purposes.
3
3. The DRB should include a condition requiring the applicant to regularly maintain all stormwater
treatment and conveyance infrastructure.
