HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Cemetery Sextons - 03/30/2022South Burlington Cemetery Sexton Meeting Minutes March 30, 2022 Donna called the meeting of the South Burlington Cemetery Sextons to order at 6:00 PM. The meeting was held at via GoToMeeting with all members present (Donna Kinville, Peter Taylor, Christopher Thrane and Maureen O’Brien). I. Emergency Evacuation Procedures - n/a II. Review of Agenda– n/a. III. Comments and Questions from the Public – There were none. IV. Approve minutes of 24 Jan 2021 – Peter made a motion to approve, Chris seconded and all voted in favor. V. What to bring before City Council/Cemetery Commission – a. Update on cleaning of stones and Essex Cemetery– Donna discussed the workshop being held in Essex on May 14th. Peter, Maureen and Chris have previous commitment and won’t be able to attend. Maureen will coordinate the purchase of the D2 with Donna in May so we have it on hand for our July 9th cleaning day at the Shelburne Rd. Cemetery. Maureen will conduct an inventory of the type of stones that need cleaning/repair on Shelburne Rd. b. Discussion and review of the draft rules and regulations – Maureen will prepare a 2nd draft and distribute it to everyone prior to our next meeting. c. Eldredge Fencing – Peter will check with the airport to determine if the fence repair is in their construction budget. d. Donna will update the timeline and work on the power point presentation in advance of our scheduled City Council presentation on May 2, 2022. e. Shelburne Road cemetery issues – due to the extremely wet conditions that make traditional burials difficult; this could be a site for a columbarium (for cremations only). Chris will research the cost of a columbarium. A reflection area could be constructed on the open land closer to Shelburne Road. f. We will be asking City Councilors to increase the price of the lots for residents from $400 to $500 and non-residents $600 to $700 at our May 2nd presentation. VI. Future considerations for City Council - a. Deed for sale of lots b. Mapping - we need to determine what lots are available to be sold and what lots are already sold and occupied. c. Decommissioning or putting a hold on lot sales at Shelburne Road d. Adoption of Rules & Regulations e. Fence repair on Shelburne Road VII. Other Business a. Donna received a check from a city resident asking that it be used to purchase and plant lilac buses at the Shelburne Road Cemetery. We agreed to accept the check and honor their wishes. b. Possible clean-up day for both cemeteries in early fall 2022. c. Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2022 either at City Hall or via GoToMeeting/Zoom..
