Members Present Michael Flaherty, Acting Chairman; Leona Lansing, George Mona, Francis X. Murray Member Absent Paul Farrar Others Present William Szymanski, City Manager; Margaret Picard, City Clerk; Mary Cady, Dick Cady, Janel Delveo, Sandi Davis, Chip Ward; Ruth Poger, The Other Paper. Continue Deliberation on the Renewal of Club New England's Liquor License Mr. Flaherty noted receipt of the report from Dr. Hundal on an acceptable noise level. Mrs. Cady said that she had thought all the neighbors would be contacted to participate in the study; however, it seems that only Mr. Weatherly was so contacted. Mr. Mona said he had looked at Dr. Hundal's proposal and noted that at almost all frequencies his recommendations were lower than the Zoning Ordinance standard. Mr. Ward advised that Club New England was not privy to Dr. Hundal's study, and without his client here, he was not sure if they would pick up the tab for another study so that all the neighbors could participate. He added that he would like to call Diane Muhr to check the figures with her. Mr. Mona said he was looking beyond this one case in the hope that the Planning Commission could set a standard that will work for the whole city. He understood Dr. Hundal had helped Essex Junction set its noise standard. Mr. Murray suggested the Board take the report, and at the next meeting see if all parties are willing to agree to it and then proceed from there. Mr. Mona suggested the Board should have the Planner check to see how these levels compare with those in Essex Junction. Mr. Flaherty suggested Mr. Ward check with the owners to see if they are willing to redo test when all the neighbors are available. Mr. Mona added it would be helpful to have Dr. Hundal present for the next meeting. Mr. Mona then moved that the hearing be continued until Monday, 19 May at 7:30 pm. Ms. Lansing seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Continue discussion on the request for a fund-raising event to benefit Burlington Boys Club Mr. Szymanski advised that an event drawing the 500-1,000 people they anticipate for the concert would require 5 or 6 policemen. He also advised that he had contacted the neighbors and they are very much opposed to the idea. Mr. Murray felt that 500-1,000 might be a low estimate and was concerned with traffic and such a large number of people in that area. After some discussion, Mr. Ward agreed to withdraw the request on his client's behalf. He said if they want to resubmit, they will do so. Consider request for catering permit for Wetherbee's on 24 May 1986, at the K of C Hall Mr. Szymanski advised this was for a wedding that will run from 3:30 pm to Midnight. No problems have been encountered. Mr. Murray moved the Board approve the catering permit as presented by the City Manager. Ms. Lansing seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. As there was no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 9:15 pm. Clerk Published by ClerkBase ©2019 by Clerkbase. No Claim to Original Government Works.
