HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 08/09/1985SPECIAL MEETING (CITY COUNCIL) FRIDAY, AUGUST 9, 1985 The South Burlington City Council met in the City Hall Mini-Conference Room on Friday, August 9, 1985 at 5:00 PM. Members Present Paul Farrar, Chairman; Micheal Flaherty, Leona Lansing, George Mona, Frank Murray. Others Present Dick Spokes, City Attorney; William Szymanski, City Manager; Stan Wilbur and Al Mossey, Webster-Martin Inc.; Al Lewis and Ed Leonard, State Environmental Conservation Agency. Chairman Farrar opened the meeting at 5:00 PM. Mr. Flaherty made the motion to go into Executive Session to discuss the Airport Parkway Sewage Treatment Plant upgrade and expansion construction contract and after Executive Session to go into Regular Session and act on this construction contract. Seconded by Mr. Murray. All present were in favor. At 7:15 PM., the Council came out of Executive Session and resumed Regular Session. Frank Murray made the motion to offer the construction contract to Charwill Construction Company of Meredith, N.H. for the amended bid amount of $5,317,949. Leona Lansing seconded the motion. Councilman Murray stated that based on the evidence presented by the City's consulting engineer, the recommendation of the City Attorney and the past bidding experience of those present from the State Agency of Environmental Conservation, that it was in the best interest of the City to amend the bid amount and offer the contract to Charwill. Council members Frank Murray, Leona Lansing and George Mona voted in the affirmative, Chairman Farrar and Council member Michael Flaherty voted against. Mr. Flaherty made the motion to adjourn the meeting, Mr. Murray seconded. All were in favor. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 PM.
