HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 03/14/1983SOUTH BURLINGTON RECREATION COMMITTEE MARCH 14, 1983 The South Burlington Recreation Committee held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 14, 1983 at 7 p.m. in the Recreation Office. MEMBERS PRESENT: Mary Anne Gucciardi, George Watson, Richard Leopold, Tom Dunkley MEMBERS ABSENT: Bill Shearer ALSO PRESENT: Bruce O'Neill The minutes of the February meeting were approved as presented. The Recreation Director informed the committee of the status of their proposed budget. Their operating budget has remained intact and $1,325. was restored in the Capital Budget for Tennis Court lights. The committee discussed the Board and Commission dinner scheduled for April 12, and Mary Anne Gucciardi, Tom Dunkley, and George Watson indicated their interest in attending. Bruce M. O'Neill presented a proposed schedule of fees for various recreation activities and the use of some facilities. The committee moved, seconded, and passed unanimously, that when more than one youngster in a family participates in the same program, that the first child pay the full price and all others in the family pay half the regular fee. The committee unanimously passed a motion raising the Directors suggested fee for the use of the O'Brien Center from $10.00 to $15.00. They also unanimously agreed on raising the price of the softball lights from $10.00 to $15.00. The Committee then unanimously passed a motion to accept the guidelines and proposed fee schedule as submitted by the Recreation Director. The Recreation Director informed the Committee about tentative plans for a National "Life. Be In It" celebration on Saturday, June 4. Mary Anne Gucciardi agreed to represent the Recreation Committee on a planning committee for this program. Other members of the committee voiced their support for the program. The group will next meet on Tuesday, April 12 as part of the Board and Commission meeting unless it's deemed necessary in the meantime to meet April 4th.
