HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 04/15/1983CITY COUNCIL APRIL 15, 1983 The South Burlington City Council held a Special Meeting on Friday, April 15, 1983, at 5:00 P.M. in the Mini-Conference Room on the second floor of the City Hall on Dorset Street. Members Present Paul Farrar, Chairman; Michael Flaherty, William Burgess, Hugh Marvin, Leona Lansing. Members Absent None Others William Szymanski, City Manager; Margaret Picard, Albert Audette, Betty Bailey. Review and Sign Warning for Annual City Meeting Mr. Szymanski passed out copies of the proposed Warning to Council Members. After reviewing the Warning, Mr. Flaherty made the motion to waive the reading of the Warning. Mr. Burgess seconded with unanimous approval. Mr. Burgess made the motion to waive the reading of the Resolution and to sign it as presented. Mr. Flaherty seconded and all were in favor. Mr. Marvin made the motion to sign the Warning as presented. Mr. Flaherty seconded the motion and all were in favor. Discuss methods of publicizing bond issue Ms. Lansing presented several methods of publicizing the bond issue. Mr. Marvin felt there should be a ad hoc committee appointed to raise outside money for the publicizing of the bond issue. After some discussion the Council decided to publicize the above by three methods. First - a press release and press conference to show Council support. Second-Ads, and thirdly-flyers to be mailed to City residents. Mr. Audette said he had slides on national road conditions. These could be showed in the PIWA class in the high school. The Council also felt that the Planning Commission should be involved. It was suggested that the Senior Citizens Group who meet in the City Hall and the Senior Citizens Center on Hinesburg Road also be talked to. Contact them for Paul Farrar to speak, also on talk shows. Ms. Lansing will assist on the Flyer. Mr. Burgess moved for adjournment. Ms. Lansing seconded with unanimous consent.
