HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 02/09/1981CITY COUNCIL FEBRUARY 9, 1981 The South Burlington City Council held a special meeting on Monday, February 9, 1981 at 7:00 pm in the Conference Room, 575 Dorset Street, new City Hall. Members Present Paul Farrar, Chairman; Michael Flaherty, John Towne Members Absent William Burgess, Martin Paulsen Others Present William Szymanski, City Manager; Richard Carter, Police Chief; Brian Searles, Police Lieutenant Agenda addition Discussion of the CCTA was added as an agenda item. Continue work on 1981-82 budgets Chief Carter said the department had 28 people today, all full-time employees. They are requesting addition of 3 full-time officers and 4 part-time dispatchers. If granted, the not change in the department will be 3 grade 9 positions plus 2 dispatchers. Asked to prioritize the positions. Mr. Carter said he would have to put the juvenile officer first, then a detective, then a corporal, and then the dispatchers. Discussion of the CCTA The Council discussed the CCTA deficit and how to handle it. Review Police Association Contract The Council reviewed the police union requests and how to respond to them. Longevity, holidays, sick time, insurance, retirement and wages were some of the items discussed. Acknowledge receipt of zone change for 145 acres including the Wright Farm and set time of public hearing Mr. Flaherty moved to accept transmission of the request for a zone change for 145 acres including the Wright Farm and to set a public hearing for March 9 at City Hall at 7:30 pm.
