1. Agenda Review.
No changes were made to the agenda
2. Comments & Questions from the public not related to Agenda items
No comments from the public.
3. Approve minutes from April 27, 2021 and June 9, 2021
T. Chittenden then made the motion to accept the minutes and was seconded by P. Taylor. Motion
passed unanimously.
4. Discussion and action item for Building Better Communities Grant
D. Kinville suggested that we apply for a Building Better Communities Grant for work that needs to be
done at the Shelburne Rd Cemetery. The grant would be used to do a historical marker/sign along
with benches and possibly a new Shelburne Road cemetery sign. There is a match that is required for
this grant which would need to come out of the cemetery fund balance. T. Chittenden made the
motion to proceed with the grant and seconded by P. Taylor. Motion passed unanimously. D. Kinville
will submit it to T. Hubbard for pre-approval prior to going before the Council on June 21st.
5. Discussion and possible action item to bring before cemetery commission allocating
highway personnel to repair Shelburne Rd fence.
T. Chittenden presented a letter that he drafted to send to the city manager and/or the council for
their June 21st meeting regarding J. Rabidoux’s offer to have the highway personnel repair what they
could of the fence and to use some of the fencing that is at the highway department. After discussion
the letter was finalized and will be sent to K. Dorn, T. Hubbard and J. Baker in the City Manager’s
office.
P. Taylor offered to go take some more photos of the downed fences.
6. Discussion regarding priority list and future plans for Shelburne Rd up to creating a
comprehensive plan.
All 3 sextons agreed that the fencing, finish cleaning up Shelburne Rd and repair of grave stones at
both cemeteries were the top priorities that we would like to accomplish. There was discussion about
adding these 2 cemeteries to the City’s comprehensive plan but was placed on a back burner and it
was decided that we instead concentrate on getting the cemeteries back to a condition that is
acceptable.
Action items: Donna will contact the 2 cemetery associations to see if they can walk around
both cemeteries in August or September regarding how to treat the headstones. P. Taylor will take
photos of both cemeteries and T. Chittenden will submit the paperwork for the Council’s
consideration for June 21st meeting.
7. Other business
8. Adjournment:
As there was no further business to come before the committee the meeting was adjourned by
common consent at 7:39 a.m.
