HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 03/15/1979CITY COUNCIL MARCH 15, 1979 The South Burlington City Council held a meeting on Thursday, March 15, 1979 at 8:45 p.m. in the Conference Room, City Hall, 1175 Williston Road Members Present Paul Farrar, Chairman; Kenneth Jarvis, William Burgess, Michael Flaherty, Martin Paulsen Other Present William Szymanski, City Manager Recommendation of Salary Review Committee for salary and benefit increases for city employees The Salary Review Board recommended a 7% salary increase and a 8% increase in the retirement fund, for a total compensation increase of 7%. The 8% will be a permanent part of compensation. Final review of 1979-80 City Budget and Capital Improvement Program Mr. Szymanski said that 2360 should be added to the Natural Resources budget for trail signs. Mr. Flaherty moved to approve the 1979-80 city budget as presented by the City Manager. Mr. Paulsen seconded the motion and all voted aye. Mr. Flaherty then moved to approve the Capital Budget as presented by the City Manager. This motion was seconded by Mr. Jarvis and passed unanimously. Other business Mr. Wayne Jameson, Chairman of the City Charter Committee, presented the Council with a proposal from that committee regarding charter changes allowing the city to adopt city ordinances without being forced to print the entire ordinance, which can be very costly.
