HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 03/06/1979CITY COUNCIL MARCH 6, 1979 The South Burlington City Council held a Special Meeting on Tuesday, March 6, 1979 at 7:30 P.M. in the Assessor's Office, City Hall, 1175 Williston Road. MEMBERS PRESENT Paul Farrar, Chairman; Michael Flaherty, Martin Paulsen, William Burgess. MEMBER ABSENT Kenneth Jarvis. OTHERS PRESENT Police Chief Richard Carter, Fire Chief James Goddette, Bruce O'Neill, Recreation Director, Albert Audette, Street Dept. Supt., Lt. Brian Searles, Police Dept., Donald Whitten, Water Pollution Control, and William J. Szymanski, City Manager. Review City Budgets 1979-80 Police Department - Chief Richard Carter requested that the 24 protective vests that were asked for in his budget be purchased. If he had a choice he would prefer deleting the firearms. He explained the need for an additional dispatcher, and also the advantages for improving the police department basement for enlarged B.C.I. quarters. Fire Department - Chief James Goddette presented his budget. There were no changes to the recommended fire department budget. Water Pollution Control Department - Donald Whitten, Supervisor, presented the budget for the water pollution control and no changes were made to the recommended budget. Capital Improvements A discussion followed on capital improvements, and the Council requested that each department head prepare a projected department capital needs for discussion at the March 12, 1979 meeting.
