MEMBERS PRESENT Michael D. Flaherty, Chairman; Paul A. Farrar, Catherine M. Neubert, Duane E. Merrill and John B. Dinklage. OTHERS PRESENT City Manager W. J. Chairman Flaherty opened the meeting with the announcement that the Police Department Union had accepted the council proposal as presented by the Salary Review Committee. MEETING WITH HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT UNION REPRESENTATIVES Gary Rounds asked Dr. Paul Farrar some questions regarding the merit and longevity system which he had devised. It was stated that there may be some problems with the plan as devised but future Salary Review Committees should be able to resolve the problems. Mr. Rounds then presented a schedule of Highway Department Union requests, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of these minutes. Mr. Rounds and Mr. Simmons stated that at the Timber Lane Medical Center the regular firemen and police get medical and dental care at 50% of cost. The City Manager was instructed to check on this. He also was instructed to check on disability insurance and the possibility of providing a lunchroom for highway department personnel. Paragraph VI of the schedule of requests was to be rewritten to more clearly express the intent. It was felt that probably this should be taken care of by the City Attorney.
