HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 06/08/1973SOUTH BURLINGTON CITY COUNCIL JUNE 8, 1973 EXECUTIVE MEETING The South Burlington City Council met in Executive Session on Friday, June 8, 1973, at 4:30 P.M., in the City Hall Conference Room. MEMBERS PRESENT Chairman Walter Nardelli, Michael D. Flaherty, Paul A. Farrar and Catherine M. Neubert. OTHERS PRESENT City Manager Szymanski and Attorney Richard A. Spokes CITY EMPLOYEE WAGES The meeting was called to discuss city employee wages, what effect a special election would have on the city budget, and how an increase in the wages would be financed if approved by the voters. The legality of the three petitions was also discussed between the Council and City Attorney Spokes. Mr. Spokes will submit his legal opinion on the matter to the Council before the regular meeting of June 18, 1973. City Manager Szymanski was instructed to determine an election date if the Council determines, at its meeting of June 18th, to hold a special election. CLARIFICATION OF CITY ATTORNEY APPOINTMENT City Manager Szymanski asked for a clarification as to the intent of the motion passed at the June 4, 1973 meeting regarding the appointment of the City Attorney. He was informed the intent was to appoint Richard A. Spokes as City Attorney for the coming year, however his salary contract would be reviewed after three months.
