HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Public Art Selection Committee - 02/16/2021 South Burlington Public Art Selection Committee Tuesday, February 16, 2021 Meeting Minutes Convened on GoTo Meeting platform Attending: Chair Trice Stratmann, Michele Bailey, Jean Sebastian Chaulot, Amanda Holland, Jennifer Kochman, Penne Tompkins City liaison: Ilona Blanchard 6:00 PM Convened at 6:05 and approved agenda 6:05 PM Opportunity for Public comment – no members of the public were present 6:10 PM The draft Minutes of December 15, 2020 and January 14, 2021 were reviewed. Jennifer Kochman motioned to approve both minutes, seconded by Jean Sebastian. Unanimously approved. 6:15 PM Review Curator Call description and SBPAS purpose and policy statement for the new public exhibition space in the South Burlington Public Library and City Hall building at 180 Market Street. The group discussed the content of the Curator Call at length. Suggestions for language revisions were made for clarity about the curator’s role in providing the signage for exhibits and all the hanging materials etc. The final version will be reviewed for approval at the next meeting. Not all members of the committee had reviewed the Public Gallery Policy document provided prior to the meeting, therefore there was only a brief discussion and an agreement that the Policy will be resent and reviewed at the next meeting. 7:04 PM Other Business: Ilona presented information about the CIP approved for FY2022, starting July 1, 2021. The budget includes $5,000 for the SBPAS, $2,000 for a project and $3,000 for planning. Amanda asked about Municipal Planning grant funds which Ilona indicated were tentative. Ilona then updated the committee on the plans for Garden Street, which requires TIF funds, and requires public support on the March ballot. The areas marked B&C on the map will become the next project areas for our committee. The next Public Art Selection Committee meeting is scheduled for March 9 at 6 PM. 7:20 PM Meeting adjourn, based on a motion from Penne Tompkins, seconded by Jennifer Kochman.
