HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 03/09/1970BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING MARCH 9, 1970 The South Burlington Board of Selectmen held a special, one-item, meeting in the Town Office Building, 555 Dorset Street, South Burlington, Vermont, on Monday, March 9, 1970. Chairman Behney called the meeting to order at 8:45 P.M., at the conclusion of a Board of Civil Authority session which had been held to recount ballots for a School Board office. MEMBERS PRESENT Charles H. Behney, Chairman; Raymond E. Stearns, Gregory L. Premo and Frederick G. Blais. MEMBERS ABSENT James C. Pizzagalli OTHERS PRESENT Robert M. Janes, Town Manager; and Charlotte Marsh. RESCIND ACTION OF MARCH 4, 1970, ON TWO MACK DIESEL FIRE TRUCKS Chairman Behney reviewed the results of a March 7, 1970, three hour conference, with the Mack Truck Company salesman. Also in attendance were Fire Chief Monell, Town Manager Janes, and Mr. Patenaude from the Brewer Motor Company of Burlington. It was determined that the guaranteed delivery date for the Mack Trucks would be 173 working days, or around the 20th of November, 1970. On a motion made by Mr. Premo, seconded by Mr. Blais, and voted unanimously, the March 4, 1970, action of the Board approving the purchase of two Mack Custom Diesel Fire Engines for a quoted price of approximately $78,700.00 was rescinded, as the delivery date is unacceptable, and the conference brought out the fact that the purchase price would be higher than the quote presented by Chief Monell. MOTION TO ACCEPT TWO MAXIM MOTOR DIVISION GASOLINE CUSTOM FIRE TRUCKS FOR JUNE, 1970, DELIVERY On motion made by Mr. Stearns, seconded by Mr. Blais, and voted unanimously, the Board, acting upon the favorable recommendation of the Chairman, the Town Manager, and the Fire Chief, voted to accept and sign the contract with the Maxim Motor Division, Middleboro, Massachusetts, for furnishing the Town of South Burlington, Vermont, two (2) Maxims, Model FC 26210C, 1000 gallon pumping engines, gas driven, with all equipment as specified by the contract dated March 9, 1970, at the contract price of $75,031.00 including air brakes; one engine to be delivered on or about June 25, 1970, and the other delivered no later than June 30, 1970. Mr. Premo made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:10 P.M. Mr. Stearns seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Approved James C.
