Keith Epstein, Marcy Murray, Patty Tashiro
Committee members absent: Linda McGinnis, Jeremy King, Fred Kosnitsky,
Community members present: Drew Gelfenbein, Donna Leban
City staff present: none
The meeting was called to order at 6:40pm
Comments from the Public:
Drew Gelfenbein mentioned that he had interviewed with City Council to fill a vacant seat on the EC and
is waiting to hear. We welcomed him and hope he is named to join us.
Donna Leban discussed some ideas for reducing stormwater impact. Perhaps new buildings could have
rainwater cisterns to provide water for flushing. Committee suggested that she bring the idea to Tom
DiPietro at Public Works.
August Meeting Minutes: Action on these will be delayed to next month to ensure we have a final
version that includes all recommended changes.
Project updates:
Members reviewed accomplishments, help needed, and plans for the next month – additional
comments from meeting noted here
Net Zero:
Keith and James agreed to reach out to the O’Brien Brothers to see if they would be interested in
making all or part of their new development Net Zero.
CityFest:
Additional funding for our new brochure (now including transportation ideas) and posters for CityFest
are required.
Don moved and Karen seconded a motion to fund an additional $668.20 (in addition to the original $500
funding approved in July’s meeting). Motion carried with no opposition.
Outreach:
Don and Karen will pursue tabling at a football game and one other SB event. Karen will apply for a
Button-up grant from EVT so that we can give out LEDs and/or other energy saving products at those
events.
Don proposed that we run 3 new ads in the Other Paper based on the posters that were developed for
CityFest. In consideration of the declining amount of funds in our account it was agreed that the

committee should develop a budget and have a discussion of funding for various projects to ensure
these funds go to the most appropriate projects.
Sam moved and Don seconded that $1269 be approved to develop and place 3 new ads. The motion
carried with opposition from Marcy Murray.
Streetlights:
Donna Leban reported that she has been working for the city to inventory existing city owned lights and
propose upgrade/replacement options. She has submitted her recommendations to Justin for his action.
Additional discussion underway to determine if wireless controls would be an additional upgrade to
consider.
Other: Keith suggested that we investigate a NEGF grow grant to help fund our future programs.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Next scheduled meeting:
Thursday, October 5th, at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room at the South Burlington Police Station
