The Meeting was convened at 6:06. There were no changes made to the agenda and no members of the public were present. 2. Members and staff shared reminiscences of long time Public Art Selection committee member Jennifer Kochman who died suddenly earlier in June. Jennifer brought a welcome voice and perspective to the committee. She was a passionate advocate and volunteer on many committees for South Burlington. 3. Denise Townsend is a newly appointed member of the Public Art Selection Committee. Members introduced themselves to Denise as well as learning more about her interest in joining the committee. 4. Review selection of Todd Lockwood for the first artist to be presented in the SB Art Gallery. Trice described the effort, with help from John Killacky, Ilona and Penne, in identifying an artist for the first show. The original plan turned out not to be possible: finding a replacement artist therefore became urgent. Todd Lockwood, a well-known portrait artist (photographer) who lives in South Burlington was identified and he is interested in showing in the space. Members reviewed Todd ‘s website so that all could be more familiar with his work. It will set a high standard for the Art Gallery to have Todd for the first show. Penne made a motion that the committee accept Todd Lockwood as the first artist to be displayed in the public gallery. Jean Sebastian seconded the motion. Discussion followed with general comments about the size of the pieces, plans for installation etc. The motion was approved unanimously. 5. Review Art Gallery items; Press release, advertising postcards/emails, reception details and signage for show. Trice and Penne will work on the support elements for mounting the show. The current plan is to install the first week of August and hold an opening reception Saturday August 7. The show will be up for about three months. Other Business: Ilona mentioned that there would be no committee meeting in July as the city is moving offices. Future items: review the call to artists for the next show and continue to search for a gallery curator. The next meeting was not set. The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Penne Tompkins
