BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING NOVEMBER 21, 1967 The South Burlington Board of Selectmen held a regular meeting at the Town Office Building, 555 Dorset Street, South Burlington, Vermont on Tuesday, November 21, 1967. Mr. Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman, called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman; Robert K. Ashley, Frederick G. Blais, Augustus T. Stannard and Stephen M. Whittlesey. MEMBERS ABSENT None OTHERS PRESENT Henry N. LeClair, Town Manager; Edgar Myers, Free Press Reporter; Charlotte Marsh, Cemetery Committee; Walter Boudreau, Darrel Panner, Lilian Golovin, and Gerard Stuyck; residents of Duval Street; and Dorothy Wass. HERBEL APPOINTMENT On a motion made by Mr. Stannard and seconded by Mr. Whittlesey, the Board unanimously voted to formalize the appointment of Robert Herbel of Laurel Hill Drive as school director to serve the one year term of Stanley Amadon. DISCUSSION ON PLOWING STREETS The Town Manager asked for policy regarding plowing of streets that are bonded and that have base pavement. He was informed by the Board that the policy already exists. DISCUSSION ON PLOWING STREETS contd. In a related manner concerning acceptance of deeds of bonded streets the Board expressed its intention to consider such actions in the future in order to receive state aid funding subject to legal investigation of the matter. DATA PROCESSING OF REVENUES At the Town Manager's request Dave Jordan of the Chittenden Trust Company made a brief presentation of data processing of town revenues. The Board expressed its interest in exploring further information with respect to services rendered and made available by data processing. STREET DEEDS Action to accept the deed to Clover Street was tabled. WHITTLESEY ZONE CHANGE REQUEST - SHELBURNE ROAD The Board unanimously agreed to approve the first reading for a change of zone from Business District B to Business District A on Shelburne Road. SHELBURNE ROAD CEMETERY Mr. Stannard reported the needs of the Shelburne Road cemetery for a fence. He stated his opinion that a four foot chain link fence would be sufficient. The Town Manager stated that he would determine and report at the next meeting how much of the fence the town has on hand. STORM DRAIN - BARTLETT BAY ROAD The Board considered the installation of one hundred and ten feet (110') of thirty inch (30") storm drain connecting a drive culvert off Bartlett Bay to the NBC building and the culvert draining across Shelburne Road. The Board approved the expenditure of 50% of the fifteen hundred dollar ($1500) project with the balance being billed to Mr. Pomerleau. The Board also instructed the Town Manager to grade, if possible, a gravel section of road leading into the rear of Grand-Way. SIDEWALK PLOW The Board heard the request for the purchase of a five thousand dollar ($5000) sidewalk plow. The Town Manager was asked to furnish Selectmen with the cost data for contractual maintenance, rental plowing and related checks. CRANWELL BOND The Board discussed the status of the Cranwell bond. Mr. Whittlesey suggested calling the bond. A brief discussion followed. On a motion made by Mr. D'Acuti and seconded by Mr. Stannard, the Board agreed to table the item until the next meeting.
