HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 03/09/1967BOARD OF SELECTMEN ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING MARCH 9, 1967 The South Burlington Board of Selectmen held an Organizational Meeting at the Town Office Building, 555 Dorset Street, South Burlington, Vermont on Thursday, March 9, 1967 at 4 P.M. Mr. D'Acuti and Mr. Ashley who were re-elected to the Board at the Annual Town Meeting held March 7, 1967 had both been administered the oath of office by Town Clerk Mrs. Paquin prior to the meeting. MEMBERS PRESENT Robert K. Ashley, Frederick G. Blais, Vincent J. D'Acuti, Augustus T. Stannard and Stephen M. Whittlesey. MEMBERS ABSENT None OTHERS PRESENT Henry LeClair, Town Manager and Edward Myers, Free Press Reporter. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Mr. LeClair, Town Manager, called the meeting to order asking for nominations for office of Chairman of the Board. Mr. Whittlesey nominated Mr. D'Acuti, seconded by Mr. Ashley. Mr. Blais made a motion that the nominations be closed, seconded by Mr. Stannard. Mr. D'Acuti was then unanimously elected Chairman of the Board of Selectmen by voice vote. Mr. D'Acuti, Chairman then took the chair and asked for nominations for the office of Vice-Chairman of the Board. Mr. Stannard nominated Mr. Whittlesey, seconded by Mr. Blais. On motion made and seconded the nominations were closed and Mr. Whittlesey was unanimously elected to the office of Vice- Chairman of the Board of Selectmen by voice vote. Mr. D'Acuti then asked for nominations for the office of Clerk of the Board. Mr. Stannard nominated Mr. Ashley, seconded by Mr. Blais. On motion made and seconded, the nominations were closed and Mr. Ashley was unanimously elected to the office of Clerk of the Board of Selectmen by voice vote. SETTING TIME OF REGULAR MEETINGS The Board agreed to hold their regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Town Office Building, 555 Dorset Street, South Burlington, Vermont at 7:30 P.M. TOWN COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS The Selectmen agreed to postpone appointments to the various Town Committees until the next regular meeting of March 21, 1967. DISBURSEMENT ORDERS The Board members signed the orders for disbursements as presented. FEDERAL GRANT FOR NEW SEWER SYSTEM The Board of Selectmen instructed Mr. LeClair, Town Manager, to accompany Mr. Douglas to Montpelier on Monday, March 13, 1967 for a 3 P.M. appointment with Governor Hoff and Mr. LaRosa of the Water Resource Board to discuss Federal Grants for planning for the new sewer system. There being no other business the meeting adjourned at 5 P.M. NOTE: The Selectmen agreed to invite the School Board to an informal session at the regular Board meeting of April 4, 1967 at 8:30 P.M.
