HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 01/24/1967BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING JANUARY 24, 1967 The South Burlington Board of Selectmen held a special meeting at the Town Office Building, 555 Dorset Street, South Burlington, Vermont on Tuesday, January 24, 1967 at 7:30 P.M. Mr. D'Acuti, Chairman called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman; Frederick G. Blais, Robert K. Ashley Augustus T. Stannard and Stephen M. Whittlesey. MEMBERS ABSENT None OTHERS PRESENT Henry LeClair, Town Manager, and Director Don O'Brien, Albert Lamson, Leo Jodoin and Lee Emmons of the Recreation Committee. READING OF THE MINUTES The minutes of the January 17, 1967 meeting were approved as read. FIRE DISTRICT 6 CONTRACT The Selectmen approved and signed the contract between Fire District 6 and the Town of South Burlington. SHOPPING CENTER - ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT The Selectmen signed the original of the zoning ordinance amendment for Shopping Centers which had been passed at the January 17, 1967 meeting. RESIGNATION OF ROBERT C. LADD, HIGHWAY SUPERINTENT. Mr. D'Acuti, Chairman, read a letter of resignation from Robert C. Ladd, Highway Superintendent. Mr. Ladd's resignation was accepted with regret. BOARD OF CIVIL AUTHORITY - REPORT FROM COL. G. C. CROOKS, CHAIRMAN Mr. D'Acuti read a report submitted by the chairman of the Board of Civil Authority. The contents were taken under advisement by the Board, and the original report is filed with the minutes of this meeting. LETTER FROM VERMONT AERONAUTICS BOARD Mr. D'Acuti read a letter from Edward F. Knapp, Commissioner of Vermont Aeronautics Board in regard to personal landing strips. Selectmen Whittlesey suggested the letter be filed, and the Board concurred. PLANNING COMMISSION REQUEST FOR FUNDS The request by Planning Commission Chairman William D. Kellner for the expenditure of sums in the amount of $50 to be used for miscellaneous expenses connected with the organization of regional planning was granted by the Board. RECREATION BUDGET Recreation Committee members Leo Jodoin, Albert Lamson, Lee Emmons and Director Donald O'Brien presented a revised recreation budget totaling $14,575.00 to the Selectmen, and it was unanimously accepted. The Recreation Committee asked the Selectmen if they would contact the School Board for permission to use the grammer schools' basketball courts without custodial charges. The Board of Selectmen agreed to make such a request. The Selectmen went into executive session to consider the budget, and adjourned at 11:30 P.M.
