MINUTES PUBLIC HEARING SOUTH BURLINGTON BOARD OF SELECTMEN A public meeting was held February 21, 1967 at 7:30 P.M. at the South Burlington Town hall for the discussion of the proposed amendment to the South Burlington charter providing for additional polling places for annual and special town meetings. PRESENT Stephen M. Whittlesey, Robert K. Ashley, Augustus T. Stannard, and Frederick G. Blais, Board of Selectmen. Henry N. LeClair, Irving L. Douglas, John T. Ewing, Ed Myers, Laforrest Thompson and Frederick Fayette. Mr. Fayette appeared for the School Board, indicating that the Board was in agreement with the proposal and that the wording should be clarified to include all school district meetings. After a motion duly made and seconded it was voted unanimously that the clarifying words be inserted. The revised amendment was then considered by the Board, said amendment reading as follows: ARTICLE 7: Shall the amendment to the Town Charter providing for additional polling places for annual and special town and town school district meetings, be adopted? (by ballot) (Proposed Amendment: Section 502A Polling Places for Annual and Special Town and Town School District Meetings. In any annual or special town or town school district meeting, for the purpose of the election of officers and the voting on all questions to be decided by Australian ballot, there shall be additional polling places which shall be the polling places designated for the election of representatives to the General Assembly in each representative district. The check list for each polling place shall be composed of those voters residing in that representative district. The votes cast shall be separately counted in the manner provided in the election of representatives to the General Assembly. Except as provided in this section, the conduct of such meeting shall conform to the requirements where applicable, set forth in Chapter 19, Subchapter 2 of Title 17, VSA.) Dated at South Burlington this 21st day of February, 1967. SOUTH BURLINGTON BOARD OF SELECTMEN Mr. Blais moved that the amendment be submitted to the annual meeting in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 17 of the Town Charter.
