HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 04/19/1966BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING APRIL 19, 1966 The South Burlington Board of Selectmen held a regular meeting at the Town Office Building, 555 Dorset Street, South Burlington, Vermont on Tuesday, April 19, 1966 at 7:30 P.M. Mr. D'Acuti, Chairman, called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman; Mr. Robert K. Ashley, Frederick G. Blais, Augustus T. Stannard, and Stephen M. Whittlesey. OTHERS PRESENT Henry LeClair, Town Manager; Irving L. Douglas, Director of New Sewer System; William D. Kellner, Chairman of the Planning Commission, Angelo Pizzagalli, Mr. John Wolf, and another resident of the Town. MINUTES The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. PIZZAGALLI REQUEST WITH RESPECT TO DRIVEWAY The Board of Selectmen allowed Mr. Pizzagalli's request for a private drive on his property at Kennedy Drive by treating it as a subdivision requirement for two years, with a strong likelihood of a two year extension, and Mr. Kellner, Chairman of the Planning Commission was to contact Mr. John T. Ewing, Town Attorney, to work out details relative to bonding requirements, etc. APPROVAL OF TRANSFER OF TOWN PROPERTY TO SCHOOL DEPARTMENT The Board of Selectmen approved the transfer of Town owned property to the School Department as set forth in the deed draft, reserving sewer construction easements and sewer line rights-of-way. ACT ON PURCHASE OF TRUCKS Mr. Blais made a motion, seconded by Mr. Ashley, that the Town purchase a small GMC truck at $2600 from Fitzpatrick's Garage. The motion was unanimously passed. Mr. D'Acuti instructed the Town Manager to prepare specifications for a heavy duty truck, in more detail than before, and get new quotations for the Board's consideration. The Selectmen requested that the minutes of the meeting contain price quotations on the trucks (the original prices are listed in the minutes of April 5, 1966, on page 4. REVIEW OF PROPOSED SEWER ORDINANCE Mr. LeClair, Town Manager, told the Selectmen that it was important to have a sewer ordinance as soon as possible, and presented them with a model ordinance prepared by Mr. Szymanski, Robert Ladd, Irving Douglas and himself. The Selectmen tabled the matter until a special meeting to be held on May 10, 1966 in order to have time to study the model ordinance as presented. MR. DOUGLAS - REPORT ON NEW SEWER SYSTEM Mr. Douglas reported on the progress being made by the four contractors presently working on the sewer system and also on his progress in obtaining easements for the sewer construction and lines. The Selectmen discussed the Sewer System in general, and instructed Mr. Douglas to keep a close watch on every detail of the project. REPORT ON SEWER SYSTEM, continued Mr. Kellner, Chairman of the Planning Commission, also reported on his progress with regard to preparing an application for laterals through the office of Public Works and Economic Development Act, by way of regional planning. LAND FILL AREA The Selectmen approved the Town of Williston using our Land Fill Area for one month at a rate of $175, beginning on April 13, 1966. SEWER FRONTAGE A motion, made by Mr. Whittlesey and seconded by Mr. Stannard, not to assess cemeteries for frontage assessments for the new sewer system, was unanimously passed by the Board. OTHER BUSINESS A matter pertaining to the Sewer System came before the Board and Mr. D'Acuti, Chairman, closed the regular meeting at 10:30 P. M. in order to discuss the situation in an Executive Session. The Board of Selectmen adjourned the Executive Session at 11:30 P.M.
