BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING APRIL 12, 1966 The South Burlington Board of Selectmen held a special meeting on Tuesday, April 12, 1966 at 7:30 P.M. at the Town Office Building, 555 Dorset Street. The meeting was called to order by Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman. MEMBERS PRESENT Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman; Robert K. Ashley, Frederick G. Blais and Stephen M. Whittlesey. MEMBERS ABSENT Augustus T. Stannard OTHERS PRESENT Henry LeClair, Town Manager; Roger LeCours, Reporter; Mr. J. W. Lamphere Mr. Christian B. Hoskam, Mr. Donald Kerwin, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ladeau and several other interested residents. SECOND READING OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE A proposed ordinance to amend the South Burlington Zoning Ordinance by creation of an additional area of Residence A, requested by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ladeau and Mr. and Mrs. James Lamphere was the first matter to be considered. Mr. D'Acuti, Chairman, read the legal notice of the hearing as it appeared in the Free Press on March 26, 1966. He also read a letter from the Planning Commission which recommended that the petitions be granted. As there was no objection from the Board or those present, a motion, to accept the proposed ordinance as read, was made by Mr. Blais, seconded by Mr. Whittlesey, and was so voted. The ordinance reads as follows: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND "THE SOUTH BURLINGTON ZONING ORDINANCE BY CREATION OF AN ADDITIONAL AREA OF RESIDENCE A. The Selectmen of South Burlington hereby ordain: Section 1. The South Burlington Zoning Ordinance adopted February 28, 1964, and the official zoning map adopted in connection therewith is hereby amended by changing the land use of the following described land from Planned District to Residence A. A parcel of land containing approximately five acres, located on the west side of Hinesburg Road, opposite the Van Sicklen Road intersection, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Bruce R. Ladeau, as recorded in the South Burlington Land Records in Vol. 73, page 423. Also, a parcel of land containing approximately 3 acres, bounded on the east by Hinesburg Road, and on the south by Van Sicklen Road, owned by Mr. and Mrs. James Lamphere, as recorded in South Burlington Land Records in Vol. 73, page 467. Ashley Second " April 12, 1966 South Burlington Board of Selectmen PETITIONS Two petitions from owners of land on Hinesburg Road concerning zoning in that area were tabled for consideration at a later date, by John Burdis, Planning Consultant. PROPOSED ORDINANCES Three proposed ordinances to amend the South Burlington Zoning Ordinance were presented for the first reading. The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the first reading and the Town Manager was instructed to advertise them for a second reading. Copies of these proposed ordinances are filed in the records of the Selectmen's Minutes. SIGNING OF BEVERAGE LICENSES As of this date the Board of Selectmen have approved the following Beverage Licenses: First Class Second Class Joe Barry Restaurant, Inc.Lillian B. Vetters Harper Hotels of Vermont, Inc.First National Stores Cupola Golf Course, Inc.Grand Union Stores Inc., of Vt. The Homestead Richard W. Gracey Victorian Motor Inn Airport Grocery Howard Johnson's Restaurant The Great A & P Co. of Vt. Cupola Restaurant Harold S. Twitchell Airport Restaurant Stop and Shop, Inc. J. George DeGraff MURRAY & BLAKE CONSTRUCTION, INC. Mr. Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman, as authorized agent of the town, signed a consent of assignment of funds due Murray & Blake Construction, Inc. to Merchants National Bank. TOWN TRUCKS Due to a misinterpertation of bid format, the Board of Selectmen asked for resubmission of bids on Town Trucks with an attempt to get them by April 19, 1966. OTHER BUSINESS Mr. Stephen Whittlesey presented a report on his meeting with the Water Commission which led into general discussion of the probable merger.
