HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - City Council - 02/16/1965BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING FEBRUARY 16, 1965 The Board of Selectmen of the Town of South Burlington held a meeting on Tuesday, February 16, 1965 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Municipal Building at 555 Dorset Street, South Burlington, Vermont. MEMBERS PRESENT Vincent J. D'Acuti, Chairman, Ralph B. Goodrich., Augustus T. Stannard, Stephen Whittlesey, and Robert K. Ashley. OTHERS PRESENT Irving L. Douglas, Town Manager. READING OF THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING The minutes of the meeting of February 2, 1065 were read and approved. SECOND READING OF THE CHARTER CHANGES The Charter changes were read by the Chairman of the Board, Vincent D'Acuti. Mr. Mikell, Town Attorney, explained the language of the proposed charter changes. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously for the changes to the Town Charter as advertised. FINANCIAL STATEMENT A financial statement for the period of seven months was presented to the Board for their comments. Questions were posed as to what the Miscellaneous Item consisted. Mr. Douglas said such expenditures as the additional plans that were drawn by Webster--Martin, Inc., for the proposed sewerage system, and pumping station plans. The Police Department Budget was discussed as to the change over from the Mobile Unite to the present communication system. The Welfare Department Budget was also discussed. Mr. Douglas, Town Manager, stated that each of the hospitals, Mary Fletcher and DeGoesbriand hospitals, send him a list of uncollectible accounts every six months. However, recently numerous bills that the City of Burlington have been notified as uncollectible have been forwarded to this office either for reimbursement or for adjustment. Mr. Douglas explained the system of recording Welfare Accounts to members of the Board.
